An NZB file contains a list of pointers to the parts of a file you can download from Usenet. You can open NZB files with newsreaders such as SABnzbd, GrabIt, and NewsLeecher.
When you open an NZB file, your newsreader connects to Usenet and downloads each part needed to complete the file, then pieces all the parts together to create the finished file. In this tutorial we'll show how to use NZB files with the GrabIt newsreader (they also work with SABnzbd, NZBGet, and most popular newsreaders).
Download and install GrabIt from the Fast Usenet members area. The Fast Usenet Edition comes pre-configured. Just enter your username and password and you're ready.
Once GrabIt is configured, visit your favorite NZB search site to find an NZB file. In this tutorial we search for "Ubuntu" (a free version of the Linux operating system).
Save the NZB file to your computer somewhere you can easily find it in the next step.
Open GrabIt and click the "Batch" tab. In the top toolbar you'll see an "NZB Import" option. Click it.
When the "GrabIt - Import batch file" window opens, click "Add", locate the NZB file on your computer, and open it.
GrabIt begins the import process, then connects to Usenet and downloads all the required pieces of the file.
Once the articles finish downloading, GrabIt assembles them and outputs the finished file to the "extract folder", easily found via "Extract Folder" in the top toolbar.
