Server Status

Our staff members will post updates to this page if we experience any unusual downtime or have planned server maintenance. Our engineers are notified if there are any network problems and will address and resolve all issues as soon as possible.

Upgrade: At 2:00pm (CST) we will be upgrading our servers to a new server group we have been developing over the past several months. With this new server equipment our valued users will experience the following benefits.

  • Improved access speeds and reliability
  • Increased retention and completion rates
  • Improved connection reliability
  • Improved bandwidth reporting in the members area
With this server upgrade all users will be required to download your subscribed newsgroup headers again as the article numbering will change. Status: Switch has been made to new servers. Everything is moving over smoothly. We will keep this page updated if any problems arise.

Issue: We are currently experiencing connection and speed issues. A network switch failed last night at 11:15p CST. The switch has been replaced and service has been partially restored.

Our network technicians are working to resolve the problem and restore service to 100% functionality. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Issue: We experienced temporary server problems related to our article numbering system. If you are experiencing errors updating your subscribed newsgroups please try un-subscribing and re-subscribing to the newsgroup to download the updated article numbers. If you continue to have problems after updating the newsgroup please submit a ticket to our technical support team

Status: Article numbering server issue resolved

Issue: We are currently having problems with our authentication server. Our network technicians are aware of the problem and are working to resolve it

Status: Authentication issue resolved.

Issue: We are experiencing temporary server authentication errors. GrabIt is having problems authenticating with our servers. Programs such as SABnzbd, Newsleecher, Binreader, and Thunderbird are still working correctly. We are working with the creators of GrabIt to resolve this problem. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Status: Authentication issue resolved.

February 2nd, 2011

Issue: We are currently experiencing problems with our SSL servers. Please use the news.fastusenet.org server with port 443 to resolve current connection issues. Our technicians are working on the issue and it will be resolved soon. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Status: SSL connections have been restored.

December 3rd, 2010

Issue: We had a temporary problem with bandwidth reporting. This issue affected a small group of members who's bandwidth was suppose to reset today. All our other members received free bandwidth for 2 hours today.

Status: Bandwidth is now being reported.
